Job Description
Summary: Urenco USA is a leader in nuclear energy innovation, operating the only large-scale commercial uranium enrichment facility in North America. The Mechanical or Electrical Systems Engineer will perform basic analysis and designs to support facility operations while providing engineering support for performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and configuration management.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in project tasks, learn company processes, and develop technical skills
- Handle more complex tasks, start managing small projects, and collaborate with other team members
- Lead projects, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to strategic planning
- Oversee multiple projects, provide technical guidance, and make high-level decisions
- Develop and maintain knowledge of facility’s design and licensing basis in the assigned area of responsibility
- Acquire and maintain required training and qualifications necessary to perform assigned job responsibilities
- Conduct equipment performance monitoring and analysis to support production capacity goals. (System Health)
- Develop resolution of technical problems in accordance with established procedures and available vendor documents (including but not limited to: Nonconformance Evaluations, Operability Determinations, and Quality Level determinations)
- Perform analysis, calculations, and develop designs in support of the assigned facility and engineering programs and projects
- Conduct field walk downs in and around the facility as needed for job duties and for general Engineering observations and adeptness
- Develop Plant Modification packages from described desired solution or from described issue
- Perform technical and quality reviews of a wide array of engineering and technical products
- Advanced experience levels also perform reviews of non-typical documents and situations
- Communicates and works effectively with other organizations to resolve technical issues and to implement engineering outputs
- Apply industrial safety and radiological safety practices in the performance of all field activities and engineering functions
- Maintain regulatory and schedule compliance for assigned tasks
- Apply sound engineering judgment and professional rigor in the performance of all analyses and assigned tasks
- Ability to take direction and function as a team member to solve a variety of engineering problems in the applicable discipline
- Understanding of basic engineering principles and problem solving techniques is required
Required Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelor's degree from a four year ABET accredited university in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or in Engineering Technology
- Experience should be according to the level
- Level 1: 0-2 years of experience
- Level 2: 2-4 years of experience
- Level 3: 4-7 years of experience
- Senior Engineer: 7+ years of experience
- Basic engineering knowledge, problem-solving, and teamwork
- Improved technical skills, basic project management, and effective communication
- Advanced technical expertise, project management, and leadership
- Expert technical knowledge, strong leadership, and strategic thinking
- Controlled Access Area (CAA) Access and an L or Q level security clearance is required
- Understanding of basic engineering principles and problem solving techniques is required
