Job Description

Summary: Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking an Associate Hardware Engineer to contribute to the design and development of analog and digital circuits. The role involves analyzing and preparing hardware specifications, writing test plans, and maintaining product documentation while collaborating with technicians and the project team. Responsibilities: - Analyze, design, and develop conventional analog and digital circuits - Conduct simple to moderate design reviews to demonstrate product and circuit robustness - Contribute hardware specifications in support of system level specifications - Write and analyze test plans, executes tests and evaluates test results for use at peer design reviews and project notebooks - Prepare and maintain product documentation, including data sheets, instruction manuals, project notebooks, design and test documentation - Provide work estimates to support project planning - Direct the efforts of technicians Required Qualifications: - B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience - Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills - Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities - Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment - Background check results satisfactory to SEL - Negative drug test result(s) Preferred Qualifications: - Knowledge in one or more following areas: Analog circuit design, analysis, and simulation - Knowledge in one or more following areas: Digital circuit design, analysis, and simulation - Knowledge in one or more following areas: Microprocessor and FPGA system design - Knowledge in one or more following areas: Data acquisition and mixed system design - Knowledge in one or more following areas: Ethernet and fiber optic communications interface design - Knowledge in one or more following areas: Switching power supply design - Knowledge in one or more following areas: Electromagnetic compatibility and standards compliance experience is a plus - Hands on experience with prototyping is a plus - PCB layout experience is a plus Required Skills: Analog circuit design, Digital circuit design, Microprocessor design Important Skills: FPGA system design, Data acquisition design, Ethernet communications, Fiber optic communications, Switching power supply design Nice-to-Have Skills: Electromagnetic compatibility, Prototyping experience, PCB layout experience, Writing skills, Documentation skills, Teamwork, Communication skills Benefits: We’re 100% employee owned.
