Job Description
Summary: National Grid is a leading energy company committed to shaping the future of energy. The Associate Engineer will play a crucial role in delivering substation projects, supporting capital investment plans, and collaborating on distribution and transmission interconnection projects.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preliminary and detailed final design engineering for transmission and distribution substations up to 345kV
- Create detailed technical scope and cost estimate documents for both internal and external design teams
- Prepare comprehensive written and oral reports on technical issues, investigative findings, and engineering recommendations
- Assist Project Managers and support project management processes
- Participate in project estimating and economic analysis to keep everything on track
- Coordinate with design consultants and work closely with our internal design staff
- Review project drawings, including those for manufacturers' equipment, to ensure everything meets our standards
- Oversee consultants' work to ensure compliance and technical adequacy
- Help with construction activities and project closeout to ensure everything wraps up smoothly
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor or Master's degree in Electrical or Power Engineering from an accredited institution
- Graduated between May 2025 and June 2026
- Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on July 13, 2026
- Valid driver's license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver policy
- Work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (such as sponsorship for an H-1B, TN, O, L, STEM OPT, or other employment-based work authorization)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Power Engineering
- EIT (Engineer-In-Training) certification
