Job Description
Summary: The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is a prominent humanitarian organization that aids individuals impacted by crises. They are seeking a Financial Capabilities Intern to support their program in New Jersey, focusing on enhancing financial literacy and providing coaching to participants. The role involves conducting workshops, one-on-one coaching, and assisting clients with various financial topics.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one financial coaching for clients
- Conduct budgets and financial surveys with clients
- Track client notes and progress in a spreadsheet and on ETO software
- Communicate effectively in person and by phone
- Facilitate monthly literacy workshops for clients
- Accompany clients to bank appointments
- Adhere to IRC policies, particularly those related to confidentiality and client privacy
- Other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Volunteers must be based in the U.S
- Interns must be based in US, must be a US citizen or have US work authorization
- must be enrolled in post-secondary institution or have graduated from a post-secondary institution within last 2 years
- Available for a minimum of 15 hours per week
- The ideal candidates will have prior experience in the field of personal financial management, preferably in a counseling or coaching role
- Basic proficiency in digital literacy
- High school degree required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to speak Spanish or Haitian Creole highly preferred
- Ability to speak Dari/Pashto, Arabic, or French also preferred
