Job Description
Summary: Innovative Consulting & Management Services (ICMS) is a Professional & Technical Management Consulting firm with over 20 years of consulting experience. They are seeking an Aircraft Mechanic Helper to provide aircraft maintenance services to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and ensure that aircraft remain in top condition through various maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Documents maintenance as per Quality Assurance (QA) and established regulatory requirements
- Maintains high state of cleanliness and utilize a clean-as-you-go process when executing maintenance duties
- Performs regular Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walk-downs
- Maintains situational awareness and mitigate risks
- Complies with processes and procedures as per DHS/Department of Defense (DoD) documents and publications
- Maintains and controls tools. Reports missing, lost, found, or unattended tools to the site supervisor immediately upon discovery
- Inventories and inspects tools IAW ALC INST 13600.1 on a regular basis and identify when to replace worn or broken tools
- Cleans work area as necessary, assuring all flammable or otherwise hazardous materials are properly stored; handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements
- Complies with safety rules and procedures and perform work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work area. Promptly reports accidents, injuries, safety violations, and/or unsafe practices or procedures to the site supervisor
- Uses Government computer system to access various technical references for airframe repairs and Government training requirements
- Provides satisfactory customer service
- Assists Aircraft Mechanics or Workers in servicing, repairing and overhauling aircraft and aircraft components. i.e., Removes, cleans, reinstalls or replaces defective parts, accessories, and components such as worn gaskets, couplings, fittings, bad actuators, accumulators, gauges, sections of corroded fuel and oil lines, simple structural repairs, wiring harnesses
- Using mechanic’s tools, removes inspection plates, cowling, engine covers, floorboards, and related items to provide access for inspection and repair, and replaces items when work is completed
- Assists in dismantling, repairing, overhauling, or replacing parts and assemblies such as engines, plumbing and hydraulic systems wire harnesses, and aircraft structural sections
- Performs routine duties such as furnishing materials, tools and supplies to mechanic; lifting and holding materials in place during operation; cleaning work areas and machines, tools, and equipment
- Cleans aircraft, interior and exterior parts and assemblies with solvents or other cleaning solutions
- May be required to assist in electrical trade functions such as installing or repairing a variety of electrical equipment/systems to include wire harnesses, circuit breakers, complex connectors, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment; working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specification, locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system; using a variety of electrician tools, and measuring and testing instruments
- May be required to assist in performing structural trade functions such as installing fasteners or repairing structural components through corrosion control and SRM standard practices
- Disconnects instruments, ignition systems, fuel, and oil lines
- Assists the jacking, towing and refuel/defuel operations of aircraft
- Performs other helper duties as required
Required Qualifications:
- Shall be citizen of the U.S
- High School Diploma or equivalent and be enrolled in a continued course of study toward an Aviation Technical School certification or an Aviation trade related degree, or possess an Aviation Technical School certification
- Ability to operate power and/or hand tools and equipment such as pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, torque wrenches, micrometers, go-no-go gauges, multimeters, feeler gauges, sheet metal tools, wire crimping devices and tension meters
- Ability to use mechanic's tools with minimal supervision
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently
- Possess computer skills to include a basic knowledge sufficient to complete internet searches and prepare/edit documents utilizing word processing or spreadsheet applications
- Shall be capable of using cumbersome Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) operations
- Shall be capable of performing tasks that frequently require lifting, reaching, bending, walking, pulling, sitting, standing, crouching, stooping, kneeling, and stretching for prolonged periods of time
- Shall be capable of performing tasks in cramped, awkward, and strained positions and/or climbing up and down ladders, work platforms, scaffolding, and aircraft structures
- Shall be capable of carrying items up to 40 pounds and on heavier items shall seek assistance of other workers or weightlifting devices
