Environmental Engineering Intern

Summary: GHD is a global professional services company committed to environmental sustainability. They are seeking Environmental Interns to assist project managers and engineers in implementing various environmental engineering solutions and project goals. Responsibilities: - Produce accurate reports for others by collecting data from a variety of standard sources and inputting it into standard formats - Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to create engineering drawings for the communication, evaluation, and implementation of engineering solutions - Contribute to the development of, and implement feasibility testing of, proposed engineering solutions to provide feedback and data to validate the design - Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace; instruct the team in safe working methods; identify instances of risky behaviors within the team and take appropriate action, escalating serious issues as appropriate - Research and suggest technical developments to improve the quality of the website/portal/software and supporting infrastructure to better meet users’ needs - Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching. Develop and maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media - Support others by carrying out a range of research activities - Develop testing standards and procedures under the direction of professional colleagues - Support others by carrying out a range of project management activities - Support waste management efforts, aiding in waste reduction programs, waste segregation, storage, transportation, and disposal - Conduct routine tasks in technical troubleshooting, which include basic diagnostic and simple problem-solving tasks related to equipment and experiments Required Qualifications: - Must currently be enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Environmental Engineering - Ability to learn on the job and apply theory in a practical setting - Strong sense of motivation and a thirst for knowledge - Takes the initiative to identify ways to assist staff and be ready to help with any task big or small Required Skills: Environmental Engineering, Data Collection, Engineering Drawings Important Skills: Health, Safety, Waste Management Nice-to-Have Skills: Technical Troubleshooting, Research, Testing, Technical Developments, Personal Capability Building, Project Management, Initiative, Motivation
