Job Description

Summary: Georgia-Pacific LLC is a leading manufacturer and marketer of building products and related chemicals. They are seeking an Engineering Intern for Summer 2026 to support their Project and Engineering team, focusing on construction and estimating tasks, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and conducting quality audits. Responsibilities: - Build relationships with key partners to build trust and mutual benefit - Ensure compliance with OSHA and GP safety requirements, conduct daily and weekly safety meetings and assessments, issue and review safe work permits, and advocate for safe construction practices - Detect gaps in the construction process and conduct field quality audits were necessary, while working with project teams/contractors to develop means to mitigate gaps - Review and understand the scope of work and all aspects of construction for each specific project - Work with the director of construction management, project managers, technical COEs, procurement, and mill teams to determine the appropriate contract and construction strategy for projects Required Qualifications: - Enrolled in a degree or alternative program (e.g., 2-year technical college program, certificate program, upskilling program, etc.) - Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills - Ability to relocate per program requirements - Eligible for full time employment on or before Summer 2028 - Able to travel <10% of the time as dictated by business needs Preferred Qualifications: - Enrolled and currently pursuing a degree in Construction or related Engineering degree program - Experience in the pulp & paper industry - Demonstrated leadership experience Required Skills: Construction Science Important Skills: Analytical skills, Problem-solving skills, Communication skills Nice-to-Have Skills: Pulp & paper industry experience, Leadership experience Internship Start Date: Start in 2026 Benefits: Comprehensive medical plan that comes with prescription drug coverage and expert resources including second opinions and surgery support as well as weight and diabetes management, Access to a tax-free savings opportunity for healthcare expenses (Health Savings Account), Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for professional mental health counseling, financial and legal consultations and concierge-level support for work-life balance like helping finding child, elder or pet care - at no cost to you
