Full Stack Engineer

Summary: GemSource Capital is a leading non-bank financial services provider exclusively serving the jewelry industry. They are seeking a Full Stack Engineer responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of their financial technology platform, with opportunities for significant autonomy and leadership. The role involves overseeing contract engineers and driving technical direction as the engineering team expands. Responsibilities: - Design and develop AI-native autonomous workflows spanning sales, KYC, loan servicing, and administrative operations - Build and maintain backend infrastructure supporting real-time diamond pricing and automated loan servicing - Train and refine AI models for loan support and financial decision-making workflows - Architect and manage database systems with a focus on performance, security, and scalability - Conduct and or oversee penetration testing and proactive security hardening across the full stack - Debug, optimize, and monitor platform performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks at the application and database level - Implement and maintain security and compliance standards including SOC-2 readiness, audit logging, and encryption at rest - Contribute to technical hiring decisions and provide oversight of contract engineering resources as the team scales Required Qualifications: - 1–3 years of backend or full-stack engineering experience with financial markets knowledge a plus - Exposure to payment processing or fintech infrastructure - Demonstrated interest or experience in AI model training and autonomous systems - Familiarity with security testing practices including penetration testing and vulnerability assessment - Ability to diagnose and resolve performance issues at the application and database level - TypeScript (frontend + backend) - React (hooks, state management, component architecture) - PostgreSQL (migrations, triggers, RLS, security-definer functions) - Auth patterns (JWT, 2FA, session management) - SQL security & role-based access control - Git/CI workflows - Tailwind CSS - Python (scripting, automation) - Infrastructure basics (DNS, edge networking, monitoring) Preferred Qualifications: - Bonus: experience in lending operations, RPA tooling, or the diamond and jewelry industry Required Skills: TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL Important Skills: AI model training, Security testing, Python, Git/CI workflows, Performance optimization Nice-to-Have Skills: Soft skills Benefits: Equity: 1.0% to 1.5%, vesting over 3 years
