Job Description
Summary: The Federal Reserve Bank of New York is at the center of the financial world, offering unique insights into national and international markets. They are seeking a PhD Summer Research Intern who will engage in independent research projects while being mentored by experienced economists, contributing to meaningful academic research and analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Assist economists and research associates in long-term, academically oriented research projects
- Conduct econometric analyses intended for Bank publications as well as academic journals
- Programming in statistical packages such as SAS, STATA, and MATLAB
- Present your work and receive feedback from a wide range of economists
- Share your ideas and insights to help improve frontier academic research
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a PhD program
- PhD program in economics, finance, accounting, political economy, or related field
- Expected graduation between Winter 2026 & Spring 2027
- Ability to conduct econometric analyses
- Experience with programming in statistical packages such as SAS, STATA, and MATLAB
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Ability to present research work and receive feedback
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with a diverse group of professionals
- Willingness to attend seminars and present research
- Ability to manage projects or processes within their job area
- Ability to influence others regarding policies, practices, and procedures
- Practical knowledge of project and process management
- Understanding of the overall Bank and specialized discipline
- Ability to resolve complex problems and analyze root causes
