Welding Intern

Summary: DCPS is a commercial property services contractor providing services to over 1,100 clients across Colorado. The Welding Intern supports the welding and fabrication team on commercial construction projects, gaining hands-on training and mentorship while actively contributing to projects. Responsibilities: - Assist welders in preparing, positioning, and handling structural steel and specialty metal materials - Clean, grind, and prepare metal surfaces before and after welding - Assist with MIG, TIG, and Stick welding setup and material preparation - Measure, cut, and fit materials using hand and power tools - Read basic shop drawings and assist with layout work - Move and stage materials and equipment for active job sites - Maintain tools, welding machines, and work areas in safe operating condition - Participate in daily safety meetings and strictly follow OSHA and DCPS safety standards - Support welders, supervisors, and project managers with field and shop tasks Required Qualifications: - Currently enrolled in or recently completed a welding or technical training program or strong demonstrated interest in the welding trade - Mechanical aptitude and ability to safely operate basic hand and power tools - Ability to read a tape measure accurately - Ability to lift 50 plus pounds and work in physically demanding environments - Willingness to work indoors and outdoors in varying Colorado weather conditions - Reliable transportation - Strong work ethic, punctuality, and willingness to learn Preferred Qualifications: - OSHA 10 certification - Previous welding, shop, or construction experience - Basic blueprint reading skills Required Skills: Welding Important Skills: Mechanical aptitude, Blueprint reading, OSHA 10 certification, Hand, power tools Nice-to-Have Skills: Punctuality, Willingness to learn, work ethic Benefits: Colorado Sick Pay, On the Job Training and Advancement Opportunities
