Job Description
Summary: The Commonwealth of Kentucky's Education and Labor Cabinet is dedicated to advancing education, workforce development, and economic opportunity. The Workforce Development Specialist II (FFTL) will assist job seekers and employers, develop employability plans, and promote employment services through various channels.
Responsibilities:
- Assists job seekers in need of services, makes referrals, monitors their progress, and performs case management and follow-up services
- Develops employability plans based on vocational aptitudes, interests, and work experience
- Works with employers to promote the benefits of employment services and to solicit potential job opportunities for employment service participants
- Provides assistance to employers with developing job orders and making job referrals. Keeps a daily log of services
- Promotes employment services through interactions with other public, private, and state agencies through job fairs and special ads
- Works in resource room assisting customers with unemployment insurance claims; addresses questions and concerns via in-person and phone
- Conducts workshops for job seekers to help develop job search techniques, resume writing, and interview skills
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree
- One year of experience in reviewing, monitoring, determining eligibility for, and/or administering employment service or unemployment insurance programs, or experience in education, public administration, business, human services, military, human resources or a related field
- A master's degree will substitute for one year of the required experience
- Work experience in workforce programs such as WIOA, employment services, and/or unemployment insurance programs or experience in education, public administration, business, human services, military, human resources or a related field will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis
