Intern, Engineer Software - Carlsbad, CA (Summer 2026)

Summary: CalAmp is a company enabling operational excellence for a world in motion, providing flexible solutions for monitoring and protecting vital assets. The intern will work alongside a senior engineer to develop and maintain software, contributing to the improvement of existing systems. Responsibilities: - Pair up with a senior engineer and be part of an agile team - Design, develop, document and maintain high quality scalable software - Debug, troubleshoot and fix issues in existing systems - Improving quality of existing software by employing unit and end-to-end tests Required Qualifications: - Will be local to Carlsbad, CA in Summer 2026 - Experience in Java and Object-Oriented Programming - Experience using SQL or NoSQL DB - Excellent problem-solving skills - Excellent communication & interpersonal skills Preferred Qualifications: - Experience or familiarity with Node.js development - Familiarity with Microservices, distributed event-driven architectures - Familiarity with AWS cloud-based technologies - Familiarity with GraphQL, Containerization and Kubernetes - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and associated tools Required Skills: Java, Object-Oriented Programming, SQL, NoSQL DB Important Skills: Node.js, AWS, Microservices, GraphQL, Containerization, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines Nice-to-Have Skills: Problem-solving, Communication skills, Interpersonal skills Internship Start Date: Start in 2026 Summer
